Get ready for a whirlwind of excitement as the Glyncoed Entertainment Events Committee, known as the GEEC SQUAD, brings fun and festivities to Blaenau Gwent! We are your neighborhood wizards, conjuring up spectacular events and shenanigans that will leave you smiling from ear to ear.
From frequent Afternoon Tea Parties with bingo and live entertainment, for our senior residents, Musical Bingo nights, Quiz Bingo nights and not forgetting the Mam's and Dad's we hold Prosecco and Pizza, Burger and a Pint, 80s and 90s Fancy dress Discos through to our already established Valentine's family disco fever, Easter eggstravagansas, Halloween Frights Parties with our famous Jump N Scare Walks, Christmas parties and the grand Christmas santa sleigh parade around the community which culminates at the community Christmas Tree for the lights, switch on ceremony, with our jewel in the crown being this years inaugural Festival GFEST, we have it all covered and more! This year's Festival is so big that it makes last year's Carnival look like a warm-up act. Expect thrilling moments, unforgettable experiences, and joyous memories that will be the talk of the town.
But that's not all! We are not just here to make you laugh and dance. We are on a mission to keep your wallets happy too. To keep ticket costs at a minimum, we work hard to organise, fundraise, and secure grants. And here's the cherry on top - entrance to the Festival is always free for Blaenau Gwent under 12's!

Uplifting a Resilient Community
Blaenau Gwent has faced its share of challenges, with higher than average levels of unemployment, senior residents, disabled individuals, Single-Parent Families, and those dealing with Various Addictions. Mental Health Struggles also weigh heavily on the Community. The GEEC SQUAD is determined to provide a much-needed outlet for joy, connection, and self-expression.
The Geek Squad will also be looking into promoting events for our senior community, afternoon teas with bingo and live entertainments, plus music and quiz bingo nights. We don't forget the Mams and Dads. We have Prosecco and Pizza nights, Burger and a Pint nights, 80s and 90s Discos, in-order to uplift their mental health, sense of belonging, camaraderie and general well-being.

The BLAENAU GWENT GFEST 2025
After an incredible 2024 GFEST at Eugene Cross Park, the GEEC Squad wants to give a massive shoutout to everyone who snagged a ticket and helped make this event such a hit! For our first-ever event, we were blown away by the support and amasing feedback we received. Huge thanks to my fellow three directors of GEEC SQUAD/GFEST and everyone else who played a part in making the day so successful—you know who you are!
Now, let’s gear up for next year’s event, which is already set to be even bigger and better than GFEST24!
The BLAENAU GWENT GFEST25 will follow the GFEST24's great example and will be planned to be bigger and better than last years.
Following the culmination of the GEEC SQUAD's efforts, GFEST25 will be a festival that celebrates the spirit of the community through music, family-friendly activities, and an atmosphere of joy and togetherness.
But we need the support of local businesses to make this vision a reality.
The goal at the end of this years GFEST, is to foremost provide the whole community with a day to remember with great memories for life. Secondly, and just as important, is to raise enough money, after all costs of the festival have been met, to allow us to put on more events, new workshops and meetings etc for mental health and wellbeing etc, for the rest of 2024 and into 2025, where we will start the cycle all over again, year on year, but bigger and better than the year before, for the whole of Blaenau Gwent.
